The New Orchestra Quintet was formed in 1977. The group included Paul Cram (reeds); Ralph Eppel (brass) Paul Plimley (piano, vibraphone); Lisle Ellis (bass), Gregg Simpson (drums)
The group went on to form the New Orchestra Workshop Society, which still flourishes today under the direction of tenor saxophonist and composer, Coat Cook.
